Interviewing Officer (IO)

Lieutenant Colonel Phatya Bahadur Khadka (R) served Nepali Army for almost 3 decades and had a distinguished military career since joining the Nepali Army in 1990. He has had numerous commands, instructional, and important assignments at home and abroad. He commanded an Infantry Company, an  Infantry Battalion and worked as G3 Staff at Division, Training Officer at the Directorate of Disaster Management, planning officer at Department of UN Peacekeeping Operations(DPKO), Commandant at Air Defense Training School and After completing Interviewing Officer(IO) training from Pakistan, He worked as the Interviewing Officer(IO) at the Directorate of Recruitment and Selection(DRS) for the recruitment and selection of officer Cadets, JCOs, other ranks, technical officers, JCOs & NCOs. Besides, he worked in various reputed training institutions at home and abroad for training plans, design, development, and delivery.

Educational Qualification: He holds four Master’s degrees, including a completed Master’s Degree in English Literature and Linguistics, a Master’s Degree in Strategic Studies, and a Master’s Degree in Gender Studies and Master of Philosophy, all from Tribhuvan University (TU). Currently, he is pursuing an MPhil/PhD at the Department of Gender Studies, TU.

Training and Courses: He has completed several career courses at home and abroad. Significantly, He has completed the Command and Staff College Course(PSC) from Nepal and the US Subject Matter Expert Course (SMEs), including the Upper-Level American Language Course. Moreover, He has done several UN courses, Humanitarian Course, Project Management, and training of trainers (TOT) based on Adult Learning Methodology from WFP, Redr Indi,a and IMTC, UNMIL, Liberia. He is working as an IO Specialist at  Dakshya for probing and assessing officer cadet candidates.

UN Missions: He worked in 4 UN Peacekeeping missions across the Globe and worked as an operation officer for UNTAET in 2000, East Timor, as a  Logistic Officer for MINUSTAH in 2008, Haiti, as a Mission Training officer for MTC G7, UNMIL from 2009-2010 and as an Expanded Joint Verification Mechanism (EJVM) Investigator/Expert for MONUSCO from 2016-2017, DR Congo.

Military Honors: He is decorated with numerous certificates, medals, trophies, and the prestigious COAS commendation, Batch First, for his remarkable contribution to the unit.

Publications: He was awarded the BBC Magazine's prize letter in 1990, which included several publications and academic articles to his credit.
